Our Commitment
IN N’ OUT Market is committed to making our website, our Rewards app and our physical store usable by everyone, including people with visual, hearing, motor, cognitive and speech disabilities. Accessibility is not a project we finished; it is something we test and fix continuously. If any part of our site or store keeps you from doing what you came to do, we want to hear about it and we will fix it or find you another way to get it done.
Conformance Standard
We measure this website and the IN N’ OUT Rewards app against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA. We consider the site partially conformant: most of the site meets Level AA, and the exceptions we know about are listed below with the work in progress. We also design toward the Americans with Disabilities Act and Section 508 principles even where they are not strictly required of a private retail site.
What We Have Actually Done
- Keyboard operability — every interactive control, including the mobile menu, the job listings, the FAQ accordions and every form, is reachable and operable with a keyboard alone, in a logical order.
- Visible focus — a high-contrast focus ring is drawn on every focusable element and is never suppressed.
- Color contrast — body text, headings and interactive controls are checked against the 4.5:1 (and 3:1 for large text and UI components) contrast minimums on our dark background.
- Text alternatives — images carry descriptive alt text; decorative graphics and background effects are marked so screen readers skip them.
- Semantic structure — real landmarks, one h1 per page, headings in order, real lists and real tables with header cells, so screen reader navigation works.
- Forms — every input has a programmatically associated label, required fields are marked in text and not by color alone, and errors are announced through a live region rather than only shown visually.
- Reflow and zoom — the site works down to 320 CSS pixels wide and at 200% zoom without horizontal scrolling or loss of content.
- Motion — there is no autoplaying video, no flashing content, and no carousel that moves on its own. Animation is limited to short entrance transitions.
- Target size — tap targets on mobile are sized to be hit reliably without precise pointing.
- Language and titles — every page declares its language and carries a unique, descriptive title.
Known Limitations
We would rather tell you than have you find out:
- Embedded Google Map — the map on our Contact and Home pages is a third-party embed we do not control and it does not fully meet Level AA. Every address, direction and hour shown on the map is also available as plain text next to it, and we will give directions over the phone at (651) 227-8820.
- App store badges — the Apple App Store and Google Play badges are supplied artwork we may not alter. They carry text alternatives, but the artwork itself is not ours to change.
- Prefers-reduced-motion — entrance animations currently play regardless of the operating system reduced-motion setting. A fix that fully honors that preference is in progress.
- Older PDFs — any legacy PDF we have posted may not be fully tagged. Ask us and we will supply the same content as accessible HTML, large print, or read it to you over the phone.
Working on a fix or found something not on this list? Use the form below. Real reports move to the top of our queue.
Accessibility at 743 Century Ave N
- Parking — designated accessible parking with an access aisle, marked and located on the shortest accessible route to the entrance.
- Entrance and route — a level, unobstructed accessible route from accessible parking to the entrance and through the store, kept clear of displays and deliveries.
- Restroom — an accessible restroom with compliant clearances, grab bars and hardware.
- Refueling assistance — if you cannot operate the dispenser, pull up and use the intercom or call (651) 227-8820 from the forecourt and an attendant will pump your fuel at the self-serve price, at no extra charge, during staffed hours, as required by the ADA.
- Car wash — attendants will guide and load your vehicle at the tunnel entrance, and will operate the pay station on your behalf on request.
- Service animals — service animals are welcome throughout the store, including the food service area. We do not ask for documentation.
- Communication — staff will read prices, labels, ingredient panels and receipts aloud, write things down, or take an order over the phone. Ask any associate.
- Hearing — if you use a relay service, dial 711 and give the operator (651) 227-8820. We take relay calls like any other call.
If You Use Assistive Technology
We test with current versions of VoiceOver on iOS and macOS, NVDA on Windows, TalkBack on Android, browser zoom to 200%, and keyboard-only navigation, in current versions of Chrome, Safari, Firefox and Edge. Older browsers may work but are not part of our test matrix. If your setup breaks something, tell us what you are using and we will test on it.
Report an Accessibility Barrier
Tell us what happened and we will get back to you within five business days with a fix, a timeline, or an alternate way to complete what you were doing. You can also call (651) 227-8820, email [email protected], or write to IN N’ OUT Market, Accessibility, 743 Century Ave N, Maplewood, MN 55119.
Formal Complaints
We would rather solve it directly, and we take every report seriously. You also have the right to file a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice Civil Rights Division or the Minnesota Department of Human Rights. Contacting us first does not waive that right or affect any deadline.
