Work at IN N’ OUT
We are hiring across the store, the kitchen and the car wash at 743 Century Ave N in Maplewood. Posted pay, real schedules, paid training, and a crew that actually shows up.
Small store. Real hours. Actual advancement.
We are an independent, family-run site — not a franchise call center. Ownership is on the floor, decisions get made the same day, and the person who trains you is the person you will work beside.
Competitive hourly pay
Every posting shows a real pay range. Raises are tied to a written 90-day and annual review, not to who asks loudest.
Schedules built around you
Full-time and part-time, opening through closing. Tell us your availability up front and we build the schedule around it.
We promote from the floor
Shift Lead and Assistant Manager openings go to our own associates first. Most of our leads started on a register.
Free unlimited car wash
Every team member gets a free Unlimited Wash plan for their vehicle from day one.
Shift meal & drink discount
Free fountain and coffee on shift, plus a discount on the deli case and in-store merchandise.
Earned Sick and Safe Time
Minnesota ESST accrues from your first hour, for every employee, full-time or part-time. Minnesota Paid Leave coverage applies as required by state law.
Paid training and certifications
We pay for your food handler certification and all Minnesota tobacco, lottery and food-safety training on the clock.
A crew that shows up
Small independent site, no corporate call center. Ownership is on site and you will know who signs your check.

Questions We Get a Lot
You must be 18 or older for any role that involves selling tobacco, nicotine or lottery products — that covers Store Associate, Shift Lead, Car Wash Attendant and all management roles. Fresh Food & Deli positions are open at 16 with a Minnesota work permit, on shifts that end before our closing hours.
No. The application on this page is everything we need. If you have a resume you are welcome to mention your history in the experience box, but nothing is required.
The store runs 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, seven days a week. Opening shifts start around 5:30 AM and closing shifts end around 10:30 PM. Full-time is 32–40 hours. Part-time starts at 12 hours. Most roles include at least one weekend day.
We run a background check on management and key-holder roles only, always after a conditional offer, always with your written authorization, and always in compliance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act and Minnesota's ban-the-box law — we do not ask about criminal history on this application. We do not drug test for standard store or wash positions.
For open roles, usually within a week or two of your application. We keep every application on file for six months, so if a role fills we may still reach out when the next one opens.

Equal Employment Opportunity
IN N’ OUT Market, operated by JRD Companies, is an equal opportunity employer. We recruit, hire, train, promote, compensate and discipline without regard to race, color, creed, religion, national origin, sex, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, marital status, familial status, status with regard to public assistance, membership or activity in a local human rights commission, disability, age, genetic information, pregnancy or pregnancy-related condition, veteran or military status, or any other characteristic protected by the Minnesota Human Rights Act, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, or any other applicable federal, state or local law.
Reasonable Accommodation
If a disability or medical condition makes any part of applying, interviewing, or performing a job difficult, we will provide a reasonable accommodation. Call (651) 227-8820 or email [email protected]. Minnesota law also requires us to provide reasonable accommodations for pregnancy, childbirth and related health conditions, including more frequent restroom breaks, seating, and limits on lifting, with no requirement that you take leave and no need for a doctor’s note for those specific accommodations.
Pay Transparency
Every posting on this page includes a good-faith hourly range and a description of benefits, as required by Minnesota Statutes § 181.173. Actual pay within the range depends on experience, availability and shift. We do not ask about your pay history, and Minnesota law prohibits us from doing so.
What We Give You In Writing
- Wage-theft notice — at hire, in writing, in your preferred language: your rate, how you are paid, allowances, paid-time-off terms, employer legal name and address, and the pay day, as required by Minnesota Statutes § 181.032.
- Earned Sick and Safe Time — you accrue one hour of ESST for every 30 hours worked, up to 48 hours per year, starting your first hour of work. Your accrued and used balance appears on every earnings statement.
- Minnesota Paid Leave — we participate in the Minnesota Paid Leave program and provide the required program notice and payroll contributions.
- Nursing mothers and lactating employees — reasonable paid break time and a private, clean space that is not a restroom, per Minnesota Statutes § 181.939 and the federal PUMP Act.
- Workers’ compensation — all employees are covered from day one under our Minnesota workers’ compensation policy.
- Required workplace postings — the federal and Minnesota labor law posters are displayed in the back-of-house break area and are available on request.
Background Checks
For management and key-holder roles only, we may run a consumer report after a conditional offer. You will receive a stand-alone written disclosure and we will obtain your written authorization first, as required by the Fair Credit Reporting Act. If anything in a report would cause us to withdraw an offer, you receive a pre-adverse-action notice, a copy of the report, and a summary of your rights, with time to respond before any final decision. Consistent with Minnesota’s ban-the-box law (Minn. Stat. § 364.021), we do not ask about criminal history on this application or at any point before a selection interview or conditional offer.
Employment Eligibility & At-Will Status
All hires must complete Form I-9 and present acceptable documentation within three business days of their first day. We accept any document from the current I-9 Lists of Acceptable Documents and do not specify which you must provide. Unless a signed written agreement says otherwise, employment with IN N’ OUT Market is at-will: either you or the company may end the relationship at any time, with or without cause or notice.
Youth Employment
Minnesota and federal child labor law limit the hours and duties of employees under 18. Employees who are 16 or 17 may not sell tobacco, nicotine or lottery products, may not operate the car wash conveyor or power-driven equipment, and are scheduled within the hour restrictions of Minnesota Statutes Chapter 181A. A valid employment certificate or proof-of-age certificate is required before the first shift.
Questions or Concerns
Employment questions: [email protected] or (651) 227-8820. To report discrimination, harassment or a wage concern without going through your manager, contact JRD Companies ownership directly at [email protected]. Retaliation for making a good-faith report is prohibited and is itself a violation of our policy and Minnesota law.
